My research examines how Americans navigate the boundaries that organize their cultural, moral, and religious lives. I am interested in how communities maintain and renegotiate these boundaries over time, and what those shifts reveal about broader patterns of religious and cultural change in the United States. My work contributes to the sociology of religion, cultural sociology, and political sociology.

I completed my Master's degree in Sociology at Cornell University, where I explored mental health practices and beliefs among Christian ministers in the United States. That work is published in Society and Mental Health.

I completed my Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Political Sociology at Grinnell College. My honors thesis investigated the relationship between American Christian church attendance and attitudes toward immigration.

My current work investigates American Christian Fiction, the authors, editors, publishers, and readers who make up this community. Drawing on computational analysis of over 300 novels, interviews, and participant observation at industry conferences, I examine how the genre's boundaries have shifted over the past twenty-five years and what those changes tell us about the evolving relationship between Christianity and American culture.
